Your Choice Will Make A Difference!
As I visit your home over the next few weeks, there are many issues facing the residents of Tell City that we will be discussing. I would like to take this opportunity to identify a few of those issues. Think about how these issues might affect you and your family, and how we might address them together. I would like to share my thoughts and ideas, listen to yours, and work together for a stronger community!
Issues facing Tell City:
- Your Edit Dollars – Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT)
is a valuable revenue source for Tell City. During the past four
years, the City has received over $1,400,000. You deserve to
know and see the results of investing those dollars into our community.
I will manage those dollars and SHOW RESULTS!
- Street and Sidewalk Improvement Program – Tell City needs
a defined Street and Sidewalk plan. I will work closely with City Department
Heads to develop a five year city-wide plan. And, my “Partners
in Pride” program will allow the City and property owners an
opportunity to work together as we improve the appearance and safety of
our sidewalks.
- Drainage – The Windy Creek area presents drainage issues
to many of our residents. Some work has been done, but only in an area
experiencing water back-up problems. Maintenance of the entire Windy
Creek area has not been completed over the past four years. I plan to implement
a drainage program that will bring resolution to affected homeowners. I
have met with those homeowners affected by the Windy Creek issues, and
other storm water run-off areas, discussing how we might work together
toward resolving these problems.
- Perry County Development Corporation and Perry County Port Authority – These
organizations work towards improving our economic future. I
will commit to a strong voice in the further advancements of these organizations
through offering support and input.
- Our Youth – On September 29th, I announced plans for a “Youth
Council” that will allow our young adults the opportunity to discuss
and listen to the needs and concerns of our community. I have met
with some of our youth and they are very excited about the possibilities
the Youth Council brings to Tell City.
- Our local schools – Our school system is the “heart and soul” of this community and plays a vital role in our economic growth! As Mayor, I will be a “partner” with our school board, teachers, Ivy Tech, Perry County Learning Partnership, and students as we strive to further develop the educational opportunities afforded our residents.
How the next four years are managed will be critical to the growth and pride of our community. I would like to bring my proven leadership skills to the office of Mayor and work with you for the future of Tell City!
LET’S GET TELL CITY MOVING AGAIN!
